The Game of Thrones TV show has been around for about a couple of years. The special place it has made in hearts of many is astonishing, to say the least. IMDB ratings rate it above the likes of legendary shows like Friends and The Sopranos. This clearly indicates that people love this show. Dressing up in the Renaissance theme is nothing new. Now, ‘Renaissance’ has a new name and it is ‘Game of Thrones’. Now you have costumes which have a whole characters and a whole story behind them. Complement them with their partner’s costume and dress up this Halloween as a couple in Game of Thrones colors. There are so many characters – some in love with each other, while others yearn to cut throats of their enemies. There is a wide variety to choose your Halloween dress from.
Joffrey and Sansa Stark
The first choice you have could be going as Joffrey and Sansa Stark. Although a forced union in much sense, they actually look good together. Sansa’s dress is likely to be a fitted gown with flower-like sleeves. You are likely to find color variations in the costume, however, the pink one remains her most notable dress. You would also need a auburn wig to complete her character. Joffrey’s dress is likely to be a more royal dress, which is not very different from many other elegant renaissance king dresses. The most notable of his costumes is the velvet costume, which has a long cape and a flowery texture. You will, of course, need a crown to complete the character.

Another choice could be being Daenerys Targaryen. This is, by far, the most popular choice. Her costume involves slave-like clothes, with short skirts, lots of belts around the waist and other such items. You will also need pale make up and blond hair to complete the character. Add a toy dragon on your shoulder and nobody would need to ask who you are dressed as. Due to her warrior like character in the movie, she does not dress up as other ‘ladies’ in the series do. You can complement her character with Khal Drogo, who does not wear much on the upper body, but has great tattoos. His costumes are also quite popular.
However, it is also okay to wear costumes of two characters who are not a couple in the series – as long as they do not have a blood relation, or maybe you can do that too, if you are going as Cersei and Jamie Lannister.
Another popular costume from this series is of John Snow, who dresses all in black with lots of fur and leather, and a long black cloak. Add a sword to this and you are good to go.
There are other warrior like costumes too, which are inspired by Sir Jorah, King Slayer, Ned Stark, and other such characters. These costumes involve the basic renaissance warrior look, with body armor, long gown-like tops, long boots and swords.
This theme has probably the biggest variety you can get your hands on. The increasing popularity of the show ensures that there are costumes for every main character. From White Walkers to Robert Baratheon, from Arya Stark to The Imp – you and your partner can mold into these characters, mix the ideas and enjoy a special renaissance themed Halloween.
